Community Development Responsibilities

The City of Plymouth Community Development Department is responsible for building, code enforcement, planning and zoning.  Building encompasses permitting, inspections, and building, residential, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes. 

The Community Development Department is also responsible for traffic engineering, street signs, soil erosion, and sediment control.  It acts as the city liaison to the Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Commission, and the Kellogg Park Historic District

The Community Development Department enforces the City Code of Ordinances through the code enforcement officer.  The officer’s primary responsibility is to obtain compliance with the City Code.  This is done through letters, telephone calls, and face-to-face contact.
